Seperate Saturday

We had an action packed Saturday at the Harms' house.  It started it with Dad and Parker going to hockey (Mom and Hadley bailed on us).  We were nice and brought doughnuts home for the girls.  The afternoon was when all the action happened in the Harms' house.

Hadley and Mom went to the Nutcracker Tea Party with Mom's friend Stephanie and her daughter Ella while Dad and Parker went to his friend Leo's birthday party.

Hadley and Mom got all dolled up to go see the nutcracker, as you can see Parker did not get dolled up to go to the party.

After getting a couple shots in their pretty dresses the girls headed off to the performance.

Dad and Parker went to Pump It Up for Leo's birthday.  Pump It Up is play place full of inflatable slides/bounce houses.

It was an action packed fun filled Saturday, Dad may have watched some of the Iowa game during the birthday party......

ANOTHER KU Basketball Game

On Monday we attended our second KU basketball game of the season.  On Halloween Nate's dad asked us if we wanted to go to the game on November 12 to watch KU play Vermont.  I'm always in for a live sporting event and Parker is sadly becoming a KU basketball fan.  The bad part was they flexed the game from 7 pm to 8 pm to be on ESPN 2 which made for a late night.  By the way, that day Kansas City had it's first snowfall that actually stuck, so we decided to take off at 5 pm to ensure we gave ourselves plenty of time.

When we got to Lawrence we stopped at Hawaiian Brothers for dinner.  It was amazing, just like it always is.  After dinner we headed over to Allen field house.  We got to the stadium around 6:45 pm, this gave us plenty of time to take some pictures with the Jayhawk and look around the KU Hall of Fame.

We also got to take in warm-ups.  Parker and Nate were so excited that we had seats so close to the court, then we showed them where are seats actually were.  We just wanted to give them a chance to see the players up close.

This is where we actually sat.

Since we had General Admission seats we had to keep the kids occupied for a while, this is how Parker and Nate kept themselves occupied.

Even though the game started at 8 pm, we surprisingly made it through the whole game.  In case you were wondering, KU did beat Vermont 84 - 68.  We attempted to have the kids play the quiet game on the way home and they did last a good 20 minutes, however neither fell asleep on the drive home.  We pulled in the driveway around 10:45 pm that night.  Needless to say, Parker and I had a short night before we had to get up Tuesday morning!

Parent Day for Parker's Class

On Thursday Mom and Dad went to Parker's school for Parent Day.  We got to see the songs the kids sing, the games the play, and we even got to make slime!!!

What made Thursday even better was the snow!  When the kids came home from school we put their snowsuits on and sent them outside to play in the first snowfall of the year.

Volunteering for Something to Eat

On Wednesday, our family had our second volunteer opportunity at Chisholm Trail middle school.  The organization that we were volunteering for is called Something to Eat.  Something to Eat is an organization that packs food to feed those in need.  Here is a quick video of what they do:

In order to understand what it is we had to do for the event we had to watch one more video before we got started.  Here is a video that outlines exactly what we needed to do in order to pack the 9,060 meals that we were going to pack.

Now we were ready to get started.  We went to the line that we were assigned to and grabbed our gloves and hairnets.    Mom and the kids were going to seal the bags and Dad was going to weigh the bags prior to them being sealed.  Parker came over to join me to ensure the weights of the bags were on point.

It only took 45 minutes for the volunteers to pack 9,060 meals!  We had a blast doing it and cannot wait for our next volunteer opportunity.

A Peek Into Hadley's Class

Hadley's school sent out a video of what a typical day looks like for the kids.  I think some of you might be surprised by how quiet Hadley is in class...

Halloween!

October 31 has been circled on the calendar for weeks.  The kids were extremely excited about candy day!  Before trick or treating took place mom to Parker and Hadley to Scheels to go trunk or treating with their freinds Nate and Kathryn.

After trunk of treating we went over to Nate and Kathryn's house for pizza before we went trick or treating for the night.  After getting full bellies of pizza it was time to depart on our Halloween adventures.  Unfortunately, the kids were so excited and so were the parents so we did not get as many pictures that we would have liked (especially pictures of Parker).

By the end of the night the kids were pretty tired, we did get them into one final costume change before bed though!
