After a 5 1/2 hour car ride we made it to Shell Rock, IA at 7:30 pm, Grandma and Granpa's new hometown. The kids were super excited to see their own rooms at Grandma and Grandpa's. Parker had a full-blown Iowa room and Hadley had her white picket fence room!
On Friday, Hadley and Parker got a tour of Grandma and Grandpa's new place. They saw the garage and shed full of Grandma and Grandpa's toys! We even got a chance to take the dogs all around the property and look around.
At lunch, Parker and Hadley got to meet Great Grandpa Coordes!
In the afternoon we decided we needed to go somewhere to burn off some energy so we took the kids to Ninja U in Cedar Falls. The kids also had the chance to stop by the house Dad grew up in!
After checking out Dad's old house and experiencing Ninja U, it was time to get something to eat. We met Jason at Wild Hare for food and drinks. Little did we know that Parker was taking pictures with Mom's phone....
Busted....
On Saturday we set off to Iowa City to see where Mom and Dad went to college. On the way into town we stopped at Stew's house and met baby Addie!
When we got to Iowa City it was time for dinner, we went to Woodraker's (spl?) in Iowa City. Hadley was even nice enough to help Mom finish her wine!
After dinner we decided that the kid's could stay up past there bedtime and enjoy the hotel pool, they loved it!
On Sunday we planned on taking the kids all over Iowa City and showing them around, unfortunately, it was raining and sloppy outside so the only stop we made was a Kinnick stadium so Parker could see who he was named after!
After checking out a couple of the sights in Iowa City, the family left to pick up the dogs in Laurel, IA (pop. 239) and then headed back home to Olathe!
